Feeding the “baby”, originally uploaded by meandscreech.

Yesterday’s post was, let’s all say it together now, tasteless. I know. But it was the first time all week I’ve had a good, hearty, jolly laugh (with my bowl full of jelly a la St. Nick). I can’t take full blame for the lack of taste in the picture, as we really did find the wise man with the donkey on his head. Shepherd has been playing with the nativity and when he’s not lining all the people up, he’s trying to put the cow and donkey on various people’s heads. Makes for a good laugh.

Moving on, the above picture is my attempt at redemption. It seems Shepherd has entered the stage where he wants nothing more than to imitate everyone. When Daddy’s home, he mimics every word Daddy says. When he’s home with me, he wants a baby to hold and a bottle to feed it. I must admit, it is awfully adorable to see your son sitting in the living room, holding a baby doll, bottle in hand, and rocking the baby slowly while singing songs and “feeding” it. Too bad I couldn’t get to my camera fast enough, and by the time I had the lens pointed at him, he’d chucked the doll across the room and was running around in circles, laughing maniacally. Go figure. I did however manage to catch the above image at lunch yesterday, and the only reason was I had Shepherd strapped to a chair, handed him the doll, the bottle, and grabbed my camera quickly. The result was several utterly adorable pictures (all on Flickr).

Mother Mary and her new hat, originally uploaded by meandscreech.

Never mind the fact that we found the wise man with the ass on his head… never mind that Forrest looked at me and said, “Now, that? THAT, is an ass-hat”. Never mind that I fired off a quick e-mail to Chris about the ass-hat we’d discovered… I had to take it one step further and give the Virgin Mother a new hat.

Playing with the Nativity Scene, originally uploaded by meandscreech.

The other day, after a trying morning resulting in several time-outs for Shepherd, I returned from the Kitchen to find Shepherd in the living room. I stopped to listen.

“Ma-why. Chay-ah. No!”

(Magi. Chair. No!)

It took me a second to figure out what was going on, and when he turned around and beamed at me, I realized he’d placed the Magi in time out in the chair. I have no idea what the Magi had done wrong, but still… freakin’ adorable!!
